PLANNING, IMPLEMENTATION AND MANAGEMENT OF RELIABILITY, AVAILABILITY, MAINTAINABILITY AND SAFETY (RAMS)

RAMS are of paramount importance to the safety and performance of a system, especially for railway services. We help our clients to define the overall strategy for the implementation of the planned safety and RAM related tasks throughout the project lifecycle, by adopting Best Practices and International Standards such as EN50126 for General Railway Applications and EN50128 and EN50129 for Software and Safety related electronic systems. The key is to prepare a System Assurance Plan setting out the safety policy and the safety and RAM criteria in compliance with the Contract requirements, determine the safety organization with roles and responsibilities clearly defined, and maintain a programme to monitor the progress and achievement.

SAFETY CASE DEVELOPMENT

The purpose of Safety Case is to demonstrate that the safety requirements have been met, and to provide a summary of the key safety tasks undertaken throughout the project lifecycle. We have adopted the Safety Case approach for a number of major projects and produced this key document as a ˇĄProof of Safety' in accordance with the requirements of the internationally recognized standards.

Hazard identification is a crucial process and is a key stage in the Safety Management System. We offer a variety of techniques including:
-

Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP);

- Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA);
-

System Hazard Analysis (SHA);

- Sub-System Hazard Analysis (SSHA);
- Operations & Support Hazard Analysis
(OSHA);
- Interface Hazard Analysis (IHA) ;
- Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA); and
- Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Assessment.

QUANTITATIVE RISK AND ASSESSMENT (QRA)

QRA is a powerful and common tool for assessing risk and assisting the decision making process. Our team of analysts has worked along side with professionals from various disciplines, including design engineers, statisticians, economists and scientists. We offer the latest proprietary software tools and solutions to model complex systems to help identify system weaknesses, and assess risks to the public for potentially high hazardous events. The techniques include:
- Fault Tree & Event Tree Models (FaultTree+);
- Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis;
- Cost Benefit Analysis
- RAM Modelling (AvSim+);
- Sensitivity Analysis; and
- Geographic Information Systems

INDEPENDENT SAFETY ASSESSMENT (ISA)

  Top

Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) has been used to show compliance to contract requirements and best practices, and to assess the adequacy of the evidence. The main objective is to provide assurance that all the safety issues have been adequately considered and addressed in a project. We have conducted ISA using audits, independent assessments and document review to verify the safety analysis and supporting evidence has been used for the development of the Safety Case.
