West Island Line C703 ¡V Detailed Design of Sai Ying Pun and University Stations and Tunnels from Sheung Wan to Kennedy Town
ACL (in JV) were the lead consultant for the detailed design of this 3km section of the extension to the MTR Island Line.It includes difficult tunnelling in soft ground and sections in rock.? There are two stations at Sai Ying Pun and University, both of which will be constructed in cavern.A full range of services was provided including project and design management, project, programme and controls, tunnel geotechnical, structural, drainage and utilities, system safety and assurance, traffic, environment, value and risk management highways and bridges.

West Rail DD300 Tsuen Wan Section
Design and construction supervision of Tsuen Wan Station and adjacent approach tunnels constructed by cut and cover means. The project included new reclamation and reprovisioning of Government facilities including a ferry pier and salt water pumping station. The station had to be integrated with new public transport facilities and associated development.

Shatin to Central Link - SDC300 Kai Tak to Hung Hom Section
Lead consultant in JV to develop the feasibility study up to Scheme Design for this 4km underground section of the SCL. It includes four stations, three to be constructed by cut and cover methods and one in cavern at Ho Man Tin . Two of the stations will be constructed under major roads close to sensitive buildings and involve major traffic and utility diversions. The 4km of 6.8m diameter bored tunnel will be constructed by TBM through soft ground and rock.

Shatin to Central Link - SDC400 Hung Hom MTC
Atkins was lead consultant for the preliminary and detailed design of the largest and most complex station on the new line. The Mass Transport Centre (MTC) at Hung Hom will facilitate interchange between two future lines and one existing line. The interchange station must be capable of catering for approximately 100,000 passenger movements per hour and more than one million passengers per day. The new station and associated approach tunnels (estimated value HK$2.5B) must be constructed beneath an existing railway concourse and concert hall, without disruption to the public or to existing rail services. Advance passenger modelling simulations were carried out to optimize the layout and ensure that the proposed configuration will provide a safe and efficient arrangement.

Shatin to Central Link ¡V SDC700 Admiralty to Central West Section
Lead consultant in JV for this HK4B section of the SCL. It includes preliminary and detailed design of the Admiralty East Station which will provide an interchange with MTRCL's Admiralty Station to be constructed partly in cavern and partly by cut and cover means. Preliminary and Scheme Design was also carried out for a second station in cavern in Central and the tunnels from Admiralty . These tunnels will be constructed by drill and blast. A full range of design services was provided.

Tseung Kwan O Extension Contract 602
Lead consultant for the planning, detailed design, tender preparation and evaluation and construction management of two new stations on MTRCL's Tseung Kwan O Line at Tseung Kwan O and at Tiu Keng Leng. The designs for the stations were developed along with two lengths of cut and cover tunnels in the town centre, through scheme design and detailed design.

Tiu Keng Leng station provides for an interchange with the Kwun Tong Line.

Hong Kong Central Subway, Lantau Airport Railway
Atkins carried out the detailed design for this project which involved the construction of 265m of pedestrian cut-and-cover tunnels in central Hong Kong . Part of the tunnel was constructed by cut and cover methods under Pedder Street and Connaught Road Central. Twin tunnels were also excavated under Exchange Square . A major breakthrough was required into Central Station and modifications made to plant rooms, station concourse area and an existing entrance. A new street level entrance was provided in Douglas Street.
