TRAFFIC & TRANSPORTATION - TRAFFIC MODELLING

Setting Up and Updating of Base District Traffic Models (BDTMs)
ACL were appointed by TD to develop detailed SATURN simulation models for these areas based on the CTS model and local development data. Future year traffic models were produced for use in future TIAs for government, and will be updated by ACL for the next two years. The survey work involved conducting manual classified counts (MCCs) for over
50 junctions.

Developing 2002-based Base District Traffic Models (BDTMs)
ACL were appointed by TD to develop detailed transport simulation models for BDTMs HK1, HK2, HK3, K1 and K2 based on the CTS model and local development data. Future year traffic models for 2011 and 2016 will be produced for use in future TIAs for government. Extensive classified road and junction counts were undertaken throughout Hong Kong Island and Kowloon as part of the model calibration and validation exercise.

Traffic Information System
Atkins are the specialist transport advisors on this project, with particular responsibility for assisting to specify the interface between current TD transport models, including BDTM and CTS-3, with the proposed TIS database. The assignment includes providing technical advice to the project implementation consultant team regarding user requirements, data format and interface, and the GIS-based presentation and analysis of both input assumptions and SATURN model results.
