HIGHWAYS - FEASIBILITY sTUDY & DETAILED DESIGN

Route 9 between Tsing Yi and Cheung Sha Wan
Atkins were appointed by HyD to carry out the detailed feasibility study of Route 9 between Tsing Yi and Cheung Sha Wan. This section of Route 9, will provide an alternative 7.6km long expressway routing from Tsing Yi to Cheung Sha Wan. Included in this project are 1.4km of twin tunnels, Stonecutters Bridge and a connecting viaduct.

The 12-month study included comprehensive coverage of traffic, environmental, geotechnical,hazard management, land, landscape, bridgeworks, tunnel, highway alignment, operation and maintenance, electrical and mechanical, building, interface with West Rail, cost estimate, TCSS, as well as programme and implementation strategy.

 
     

Choi Hung Road Widening - Feasibility Study

   
     

Garden Road Flyover
Atkins was commissioned by the Highways Department Hong Kong Region to carry out the Preliminary Project Feasibility Study (PPFS) for the Garden Road Flyover Extension.

This challenging PPFS studied the provision of the Garden Road Flyover Extension to provide a direct grade-separated connection for traffic from the Mid-Levels to Harcourt Road and Road P2 in the Central Reclamation Phase III. Very tight constraints required interface with numerous parties including government and private owners to be identified and numerous options were studied to mitigate land, visual and environmental impacts.

Central-Wan Chai Bypass Tunnel within Central Reclamation Phase III
Atkins China Ltd was commissioned by Civil Engineering and Development Department (Previously Territory Development Department) to undertake the detailed design, tender preparation and site supervision of the Central - Wan Chai Bypass (CWB) within Central Reclamation Phase III area. This section of CWB comprises a dual 3-lane trunk road tunnel approximately 1 km in length between Central and Wan Chai Districts.

The tunnel was designed to be constructed by cost effective cut and cover methods. Diaphragm walls were a dopted as the earth retaining structure which also formed the permanent walls of the tunnel.

 
     

Improvement Works at the Entrance of the Campus of Hong Kong Adventist College
Atkins China Ltd (ACL) was commissioned by the Hong Kong Adventist College in carrying out the feasibility study and the detailed design of the improvement works at the entrance of the college campus. Our scope of works included the design of the road alignment, pavement structure, road drainage, traffic sign, road marking, road lighting and street furniture. ACL also prepared the tender documents, assessed the submitted tenders, provided tender recommendations to the Client and undertook site supervision during the construction stage.

Stabilization and Improvement Work at Pond Crescent and Adjacent Sloping Area in The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Atkins China Ltd. (ACL) was commissioned by the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to undertake the Stabilization and Improvement Works at Pond Crescent and Adjacent Sloping area at the Hong Kong Chinese University .

The works included the temporary and permanent slope stability check, road alignment design, road drainage design and road pavement design for the widened Pond Crescent Road (Phase IIA) and the proposed new access road behind Inter-University Hall (Phase IIB).
