Improvements to San Tin Interchange
The design was undertaken by Atkins as part of the Contractor's designed section of works, effectively under a design and build arrangement. The improvements to San Tin Interchange will relieve congestion on Fanling Highway and allow for increased traffic flows at the Lok Ma Chau border crossing. The design scope included the deck designs, abutments, approach ramps, retaining walls and foundation designs. The viaducts are composed of 413m single box and 169m of twin box, precast segmental viaduct, erected using the balanced cantilever method of construction. In addition, 349m of insitu post-tensioned viaducts were constructed by the span by span method. The total length of viaduct is 931m. Temporary traffic management services were also provided on this very busy area near the border crossing.

Shatin New Town, Stage II - Road T3 and Associated Roadworks

Atkins China Ltd was appointed in November 2003, by Maeda Barbican Hsin Chong JV to carry out the detailed design for the Temporary Road No. 4, which was part of contract ST79/02 ˇV Shatin New Town, Stage II, Road T3 and Associated Roadworks. The proposed Temporary Road No.4 provided a temporary access for vehicles to the Shing Mun Tunnel Bridge. The access consisted of 200m single carriageway viaduct and approach ramps. Atkins proposed a steel design that provided a more cost effective, simple to erect and shorter programme construction as compared to the conventional concrete construction.

HyD Contract 2002/26 Stonecutters Bridge - ICE
