SLOPE UPGRADING

Design and Construction of Landslip Preventative Measurement for Feature 11SW-C/CR290 at Findlay Path
Atkins was commissioned by GEO as geotechnical consultant for the Landslip Preventive Measures (LPM) of feature 11SW-C/CR290 at Findlay Path to undertake the investigation, landscape assessment, slope design and site supervision of the slope improvement works.

Soil nail heads are covered by erosion control mat to facilitate growth of grass. Trees and natural vegetation are maintained as far as possible to enhance the appearance.
 
 
     
DH Order for 63 MacDonnell Road
Atkins was employed by Buildings Department (BD) for the design and construction supervision of the defaulted works for DH Order at 63 MacDonnell Road. The substandard retaining wall was stabilized by wall thickening method to meet the current design standard on Factor of Safety.

Other than the remedial works design, there were lots of administration works on liaison with DLO for determining site boundary and with private owners for borrowing car park space for the construction. Atkins also received ˇ§goodˇ¨ performance reports from BD for this work.

 
     
DH Order for Feature No. 11SW-B/R109 at Raimondi College , No. 2- 4 Robinson Road
Atkins was employed by Education Department (ED) for the design and construction supervision of the defaulted works for DH Order at Feature No. 11SW-B/R109 at Raimondi College , No. 2- 4 Robinson Road , H.K. ˇV I.L. 59 S.D. R.P. Soil nails were installed into the substandard retaining wall to upgrade it to meet the current GEO standard with existing granite facing preserved.

There were lots of administration works on liaison with Architectural Services Department (ASD) for cost estimation, tendering and contract preparation for the construction works.

 
     

DH Order for Feature No. 12NW-C/F56(1) at No.7 Silver Stream Path, Clear Water Bay , Sai Kung
In response to the DH Order issued by Building Department (BD), Atkins was employed by the private lot owner to carry out stability assessment and slope upgrading works for feature no. 12NW-C/F56(1).

Trimming back of the soil slope to about 40 degrees with vegetation cover was proposed to enhance the factor of safety of the slope. Tree felling is required to facilitate the proposed trimming and Atkins had assisted the private lot owner for the tree felling application to DLO.
 
     
Improvement Works to Rock Slopes No. 11NW-A/C134 at Cho Yiu Chuen
After a rock fall accident, Hong Kong Housing Society commissioned Atkins to undertake the investigation and study of the accident, design of rock slope stabilization measures and site supervision of the remedial works.

In addition to the installation of rock dowels to stabilize isolated unstable boulders, a 2.5m high buttress wall was also proposed to support the rock slope from possible toppling failure.

 
     

Slope Upgrading Works for Feature No. 7SE-D/F30, F41 & C339 at Pak Sha Wan Tam Wah Ching Sea Activity Centre, Sai Kung, N.T.
Atkins China Ltd. (ACL) was commissioned by the Scout Association of Hong Kong (SAHK) to undertake the Investigation, Design and Implementation of Upgrading Works for Feature Nos. 7SE-D/F30, F41 and C339, which are located at Pak Sha Wan Tam Wah Ching Sea Activity Centre.Soil nailing for the cut slope and fill re-compaction for the fill slopes are proposed to upgrade them to meet the current GEO standard
