SLOPE INSPECTION /
GROUND ANCHOR MONITORING

Hong Kong Housing Authority Geotechnical Advisory Services
Atkins has been appointed as Term Geotechnical Consultant to the HKHA for four consecutive terms (8 years) to provide a comprehensive range of geotechnical services. These services involve annual geotechnical and emergency slopes inspections, information search, leakage detection, database management, detailed stability studies, design of slope upgrading works and design of prescriptive measures.

 
 
     
Engineering Inspection for Slopes in Country Park (AFCD)
Atkins had been appointed by Agricultural Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) to carry out Engineering Inspection for eighty-four slopes/retaining walls located in Country Park at the northwest part of New Territories that are maintained by them. In addition to the normal need of identifying maintenance works required to ensure the slope features' proper functioning, recommendations for emergency stability improvement works and needs for further stability study had also been made.
 
     
Routine Maintenance Inspection for ASD Slopes
Atkins had carried out Routine Maintenance Inspection for slope features maintenance by Architectural Services Department (ASD) all over the Hong Kong terrain since year 2001. We have inspected in average more than five hundred slopes for them annually.
 
     

Engineering Inspection, Preventive Maintenance Works and Upgrading Works for Highway Slopes at Tsing Ma Control Area
Atkins was appointed by Tsing Ma Management Limited in year 2003 to carry out Engineering Inspection for 166 registered slope features at Tsing Ma Control Area (TMCA), which included carrying out site inspection, preparation of EI Report and updating the Slope Maintenance Manuals.

In addition, Atkins was also responsible for the following works for TMCA:

-

Review the slope monitoring requirement on rock bolts, piezometers and ground water control measures;

Undertake Preventive Maintenance Works for slopes; and

- Upgrade slopes to achieve the required slope safety standard
 
     
Engineering Inspection for Slopes in Private Lots
Atkins had been appointed by many private estate management companies and private lot owners to carry out Engineering Inspection for slopes/retaining walls that are maintained by them. In addition to the normal need of identifying maintenance works required to ensure the slope features' proper functioning, recommendations for further stability study had also been made to ensure that the slope can meet current safety standard.
 
     
Rock Slope Anchor Monitoring Works for Taikoo Shing: Stage XI Sites V-A
Atkins had been appointed by Swire Properties Management Limited to review the performance of the rock anchor system at Taikoo Shing to ensure the rock anchors are properly functioning and to satisfy the monitoring requirement required by Buildings Department.
