Discovery Bay Site Formation Master Plan 6.0
As part of Master Plan 6.0 for the development of Discovery Bay
Atkins was responsible for all the civil works that included site formation, seawall and reclamation, highway works, drainage and potable water supply. The site formation works involved 1.6million m 3 of earth excavation, forming 50m high soil/work slopes, constructing 250m long retaining walls and constructing 1,300m long vertical/sloping seawalls to facilitate reclamation.

The site formation, reclamation and infrastructure works provision were the key elements for the proposed residential development in Discovery Bay.

Discovery Bay Site Formation Master Plan 7.0
After the success of site formation works for Master Plan 6.0 in Discovery Bay, Atkins was awarded the site formation works for Master Plan 7.0. Works included platform cutting/filling for future housing development, decking over of an existing road, potable water/raw water/sewage reticulation system, drainage works and road works. Total site area is >10 ha and the site formation works involved some 50m high cut slopes, up to 20m high retaining structure, 500,000m 3 earthwork and two check dams for resisting debris flow.

 
     

Shek Yam East Site Formation
This project, which was undertaken for the Hong Kong Housing Authority, involved site formation, drainage and highway works for a new housing scheme. It included 0.6million m 3 excavation, 60m high soil/rock slopes and 120m of 10m high caisson retaining walls.

 
     

Proposed Residential Development at Tsing Fat Lane, Area 58, Siu Lam, TMTL 449.
Atkins was responsible for the civil, geotechnical and structural consultancy services for the residential development project at Tsing Fat Lane, Area 58, Siu Lam. ?The total site area is approx. 45,000m2.? It involved about 600m various type of retaining wall with height up to 8m and rock and soil cut slopes for forming the building platforms for future development. ?In addition, the stormwater drainage system are also e tailored made during the site formation to suit layout of futures building blocks and access road arrangement.

   
     

A 24-Classroom Primary School at Redevelopment of Shek Kip Mei Phase 4, Sham Shui Po, Kowloon (Programme No. 347EP)
Atkins was appointed as a structural and geotechnical consultancy for the 24-Classroom Primary School project at Shek Kip Mei. ?Site formation works included retaining walls, soil nailed cut slopes and excavation and lateral support.
