REGULATORY SERVICES AND COMPLIANCE SYSTEMS

Demolition of Kwai Chung Incineration Plant and Kennedy Town Incinerator and Comprehensive Development Area
Atkins was responsible for the Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for both these incinerator demolition projects. The EIA reports were amongst the first approved under the Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance. One of the key issues that was addressed was the land contamination associated with the operation of the incinerators. Full scale contaminated land site investigations were designed and undertaken as well as the development of site remediation proposals. In addition, the environmental workstreams covered air quality, noise, landfill gas assessment, water quality and environmental monitoring and audit.

 
     

Central Reclamation Phase III
Atkins was responsible for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and the environmental monitoring team services for the construction works associated with this project. The project involves the reclamation of 18 ha of seabed in the Central District of Hong Kong. The project includes the reprovisioning of ferry piers, cooling water systems and the provision of essential transport infrastructure. As part of the requirements of the EM&A, Atkins is responsible for monitoring marine water quality, dust and noise associated with the project construction works

 
     

132 kV Supply Circuit from Pui O via Chi Ma Wan Peninsula via Sea Crossing towards Cheung Chau
Atkins is the Environmental Team for this project, responsible for the Environmental Monitoring of construction works. The project involves the installation of three 132kV transmission lines including the construction of a 3km tunnel, 3m in diameter and burial of three cables between 5 and 3m below seabed level for a distance of 2.5km. Atkins is responsible for the marine water quality monitoring and site inspections of the land based activities including the review of waste management aspects and air and noise generated from construction works.

 
     

Hebe Haven Yacht Club Development ¡V Phase 2
Atkins is the Environmental Team for this project, responsible for the Environmental Monitoring of construction works. The project involves the reclamation of 2,619m 2 marine area for the development of boat storage and repair site and the development of a 46-berth pontoon marina facility. As part of our services, Atkins is responsible for preparing the sediment quality report and specialist reports to the government on environmental aspects including water quality impacts and site inspections of the land based activities.
