Review of the Technical Feasibility of Road Sections for Retrofitting Noise Barriers
Atkins was responsible for reviewing the technical feasibility of 20 existing road sections for inclusion into the retrofitting noise barrier programme and to review the results for developing a strategy for future review. Atkins was also responsible for undertaking an initial appraisal of the concerned road sections against the guiding principles from the noise, traffic, engineering, safety and social points of view. Detailed noise appraisals and air quality assessments will be undertaken to identify the extent of the noise mitigation measures for the selected road sections. The findings of the work will be set out to develop a strategy for a territory-review of other existing road sections.
