Temporary Works (ELS Works) for Yiu Wing Street CLP Substation
Atkins is employed by Hip Hing Construction Co. Ltd. to provide the structural & geotechnical services for this CLP Substation. We are also the designer of the ELS works for the captioned project.

The existing ground level for the site is approximately +13.0mPD. The ELS works is in rectangular shape on plan and is approximately 62m long, 30.5m wide with an excavated depth of 5.6m approximately. It will be used for the construction of the pile cap and the permanent cable basement for the substation building.

The shoring system applied in this site is pipe pile wall with traditional struts and ties system. There are total number of 2 layers of struts and ties adopted in the design. Due to high water table condition in this site, grout curtain work is required to be carried out before the commencement of excavation.
