KCRC Noise Mitigation Measures
To mitigate railway noise impact to the noise sensitivity receivers along existing East Rail, various types of vertical noise barriers are introduced as the mitigation measures. Up to now, about 1km long noise barriers have been constructed under our supervision. The noise barriers are composing of vertical steel truss / UC supporting by piled foundation or strip footing. Acoustic aluminum panels filled with fabric wool are installed between the steel posts.
Currently, we are working on the last package of Noise Barriers at Wo Liu Hang, Fo Tan. The proposed noise barriers are in the form of free standing cantilever monopitch roofs which are built above two operating live rails. Warren steel truss is the main structural frame to span 20m long cantilever length at which diagonal bracings are provided as tie between each truss. Mini pile foundation is adopted due to the constraint of limited working area and the close operating railway. It is anticipated that the construction shall be commenced in mid of 2007 and be completed by 2009. |
