Dubai Metro Project

Dubai Metro Project, these first two lines of the Dubai Metro comprised 74.5 km of track, 10 underground and 34 above ground stations, and 3 maintenance depots. The Red line will have an ultimate passenger capacity of 27,000 passengers an hour per direction and the Green line approximately 18,000.

Atkins was appointed as lead designer responsible for all architecture, civil works and E&M works associated with the Red and Green Lines of the Dubai Metro, including all the additional air-conditioned Footbridges and Entrance Pods.

Regarding the E&M Detailed Design work, Atkins provided the consultancy services as follows:

-	HVAC System
-	Smoke Extraction System for Platform, Concourse and Tunnels
-	Stair Case Pressurization System
-	Tunnel Ventialtion System
-	Electrical Power Distribution System
-	Electrical Cable Containment System
-	Earthing and Lightning System
-	Fire Services System
-	Plumbing and Drainage System
-	Building Management System
-	E&M Coordination by using Building Information Modeling (BIM) Technology
-	E&M Provision for Rail Operation Systems, such as Comms, Signalings, Lift & Escalator, Traction Power, PSD, AFC, etc.

MTRC Term Contracts

Acting as MTRC’s term consultant, the work scope coverage is wide ranging from railway facilities to office accommodation. Example of some of the works include the Plumbing and Drainage design for the Kiosk located at the Concourse and upgrading the E&M provision of the Telecom Equipment Rooms located at Back of House areas. These examples improvement work areas cover the following stations:

- Tai Wo Hau Station
- Kowloon Tong Station
- Tsing Y Station
- Airport Station
- Tung Chung Station
- Hong Kong Station
- Kowloon Station

The typical E&M consultancy scope include site survey, design methodology, demolition works, diversion works, new installation works and installation sequences.

Hong Kong Academy New School

This is a three storeys international school located at Sai Kung. The total capacity for the completed school will cater for around 550 students. The Early Childhood and Primary sections of Hong Kong Academy will accommodate 275 students. The remaining 275 will cater the Middle and High school. The total site area is approximately 18,854m2.

Displacement ventilation system is selected to provide a high air quality environment for studying and taking care children’s health whilst maintaining a comfortable conditioned environment. The energy consumption of Displacement Ventilation system is some 30 - 40% less than the conventional ventilation system when considered together with the chiller plant. Atkins help our clients with their environmental objectives by developing and delivering practical solution to the assigned budget, we also provided the E&M design services on:

-	ELV System, including Telephone and Security System
-	Plumbing and Drainage System
-	Fire Services System

A&A Renovation Works for the Universities in Hong Kong

We help both the Hong Kong University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University to improve their facilities in providing a quality studying areas to students as well as teaching facilities.

For the Hong Kong University, Atkins provided the E&M consultancy services as follows:

Design of E&M Services and associated consultancy services on reorganization of space at Kadoories Biological Science Building (7/F & 8/F) for Animal Facilities and Department of Chemistry. The services includes system design, documentation and project management.

Design and Manage the E&M provision for the Molecular Imaging & Medical Cyclotron Center. The Center consists a Medical Cyclotron. Utility support for the laboratory, a GMP standard radiochemistry laboratory and Quality Control Section and a Radioactive Drug Dispensing Section, Positron Emission Tomography, Laboratory, medical consultation rooms, and medical office.

For the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Atkins provided the E&M consultancy services as follows:

-	Upgrading the Swimming Pool filtration plant and the associated E&M provision
-	Upgrading the E&M provision for the Swimming Pool Changing Room
-	Upgrading the E&M provision for the Lecture Rooms for the 3+3+4 Academic System

New Commercial Building, 414 Kwun Tong Road

The building consists of 4 storeys of basement and 28 storeys above grade, this commercial building located at 414 Kwun Tong Road. The building include 4 storeys basement car park, 10 storeys retail shops, 16 storeys offices and 1 refuge floor. The total site area is approximately 1,858m2 and the total floor area is 34,650m2. It is located in the centre of an “up and coming” prime location in Kwun Tong.

The following advanced and sustainable systems are incorporated in this building:

-	Automatic Tube Cleaning System for Chillers
-	Side Stream Filtration System
-	Variable Primary Flow Chiller System
-	Rainwater and Condensate Drain Recycling System
-	Frequency Inverter for Cooling Towers
-	Car Park Management System
