Reclamation
Atkins provides a complete range of design services in house for reclamation projects incorporating major civil infrastructure. The H&TI section draws on Atkins geotechnical, environmental, water, civil structural, foundation, marine structures, planning and project management departments to deliver its services.

Civil Works
Atkins can deliver wide variety of transport related infrastructure projects and is also involved in special projects where the techniques involved in transportation projects can be applied to other special projects.
Our wide skills base allows us to draw on a large pool of resources, projects and solutions and to be able to apply, adapt and adopt these solution for specific projects. Feasibility Study and Detailed Design
Atkins has extensive experience in all stages of highway design, from feasibility study to detailed design, for road networks to new developments, strategic expressways, distributors, local accesses, public transport interchanges and junction improvements.
Our approach to effective project delivery integrates our skills such as transport planning, alignment design, pavement & roadwork design, bridge/viaduct structural design, tunnel design and drainage design. Management and Maintenance
Atkins is involved in a variety on Management and Maintenance projects in Hong Kong and the mainland.

Detailed Design
Atkins have undertaken a wide variety of bridge designs from feasibility, preliminary design and detailed design through to construction, for a variety of clients. We understand the need to tailor the solution to the project specific requirements and our aim is to ensure clients needs are satisfied.
Our projects include conventional Design and Construction assignments for government, scheme design to support other infrastructure projects, entrusted works, bridge assessments, modification and demolition. Specific skills include design of Rail, Highway and Pedestrian bridges in the Temporary and Permanent cases.
Bridge forms include:

New Airport Construction
Atkins has extensive experience of the design and construction of new airports both domestic and international. Akins undertook the complete design, and provided construction support to the Airport Authority, for the two runways and associated taxiway system and all passenger, cargo, maintenance and business aviation aprons at the new Hong Kong International Airport . The design and construction of these works was implemented in two phases over a six year period, and required extensive coordination amongst various consultants and contractors. Atkins was appointed by the Airport Authority to lead the coordination of all works within the airfield and apron areas.

Airport Upgrading Works
Atkins has extensive experience of the design and construction of upgrading works at both domestic and international airports. Atkins has undertaken the design and construction supervision of a number of upgrading works contracts at the new Hong Kong International Airport since it opened in 1998. The works in these contracts has included:
- Apron extension and re-configuration;
- Taxiway and taxilane re-configuration;
- Pavement assessment and upgrading; and
- Upgrading of and extensions to airport support facilities.
The scope of works undertaken has required extensive coordination to be undertaken not only with the Airport Authority, but also with various Government Departments and Licensing Agencies.
